Always Behind?

I knew there was a reason I called my blog Always Behind - I can't even keep up with posting my layouts!! The good news, though, is that I have completed a few layouts over the last couple of weeks, even if they are just group layouts that I have put my photos on. I did complete a whole layout of my own - but I did lift the idea from a book - but I really like how it turned out. The even better news is that we went and bought a new printer, so now I can print my pictures at home. It was just too much of a pain to have to go and get them printed. At least I am using that as my excuse to why I haven't done much scrapbooking lately!!

So hopefully I will find some time tonight to upload my latest layouts. And I really hope to find the time to make it to the store this week to get some new supplies!!

Weekly Layout

I have to admit that this has been a fun challenge to get at least a layout done a week. This one is actually for last week, I am just now finding the time to upload. I did another that I will hopefully post tomorrow, and I have another layout in the works. I am caught up now, though - it is the 4th week of the month and I have 4 layouts done. I'm hoping to get a new printer here in the next couple of weeks as well, and that way I can print my own pictures. The printer I have right now just doesn't cut it. Once I don't have to pick out my photos, upload them to Costco, and then go and pick them up, it will be a lot better. And Costco has done a horrible job on the last 2 orders I made, anyway!! I'm also really excited because I bought Photoshop Elements 6 today - it was $30 off at Costco this week. I'm going to try and get familiar with it - and then maybe I can stitch my scans together better so I don't get these layouts that look curved when I upload them. I'll also have this layout for sale in my Scrapifieds store soon - hopefully this week.

More Layouts

Wow - I really am out of it. I really want to be a good scrapbooker, but looking through scrapbook blogs out there - there is really so much talent!! It makes me feel like I really don't know what I'm doing and that I am stuck in scrapbooking circa 1999. I have a lot to learn and a long way to go, but sitting down and scrapbooking today has reminded me of how much I really love doing it.

So here are two semi-new layouts. I designed this first one myself - no copying from other layouts! - and I'm actually quite happy with it. And these are actually from Halloween of 2007. They might be the only layouts I have done from 2007, but at least it's a start!!Since this is my design, I do have a copy of it for sale on Scrapifieds. You can find it here.

This next layout is from when I was in a scrapbook swap. It's been a few years since I quit, but I thought I'd show just how many finished layouts I have that just need to be gone through, pictures chosen and printed for them, and then I will sell whatever I won't/can't use. I have needed to do this for a long time, so maybe this will be my project for 2008!Ridiculous, isn't it!!

This layout is another Halloween layout from 2007. I didn't take the time to scan this, and just took a picture, and it's really not good. It doesn't help that my pictures were developed really dark. I should have taken them back and had them redone, but I was just eager to get them on a page.

I Have A Lot of Catching Up To Do...

I have spent so much time focusing on my other blog, that I have really been neglecting the scrapbooking that I need to get done. As part of a New Year's resolution, I am promising myself 1 full layout a week. It's a lot to ask of myself, so I am allowing myself to count a layout that is done, but that I get the pictures printed and on the page, along with journaling, that will count as the completed layout for the week. I'm hoping that I will find the time to do my own pages for at least half of the year, though. So I bring you the layout for this last week, and I will be finishing this week's layout today.

I actually made this layout a couple of months back when we had a girl's night out with my sisters and my sister in law. We went to a local scrapbooking store and spent the night scrapping away. It is then that I realized just how out of the scrapbooking scene I am. Although I'm really happy with how this layout turned out, it took me almost all night, and I don't feel like it looks like what you would find in a scrapbook store. But then I realized that this is my type of scrapbooking, and although I know my style will change throughout my life, (and maybe it will change a lot over the year as I get back into scrapbooking), but for right now, this is me.

The title of my blog is "Always Behind" because really, I am always behind. This is the first layout I've scrapbooked with Josh and I, and we have been married for over 2 years, and have been together for over 3!! I am almost finished scrapbooking the whole year of 2004, which will be a milestone, because there is not one year that I have completely finished yet. Hopefully this will change over the next year!!
Anyway, these pictures are from December of 2006. My office has another office in California, and for a couple of years, they flew the Utah office out the California office for the Christmas party. The year before, the company paid for a rental car for two couples to share, but since we wanted to kind of do our own thing and to not have to worry about sharing a car with anyone else, we rented our own car. It was a great decision, because we did a lot of driving, and had a lot of fun. This is from one day that we drove up to Santa Monica and spent hours walking along the beach and taking pictures. And if you are interested, I have this same layout (without the photos, of course) for sale at Scrapifieds. You can find it in my store.

Also, I know that no one reads this right now, but I am trying to find the best way to get my layouts online. I am scanning them right now, but they don't scan the best. If you can see from pictures, the layout looks curved, and the colors are a little bit off. I use a program called autostitch to stitch them together, buy any suggestions to get them online better would be appreciated!!

Scrapbooking Blogs

I have spent some time this morning surfing through some scrapbooking blogs. Now that my table has been cleared, I really want to get into the swing of things again. So as I was searching for some inspiration, I came across a blog that made me realize just how diverse the scrapbooking world is. There was a discussion going on about one picture layouts. Some people love them. They say that you should only need one or two photos to tell the story, that the one photo and the journal should be enough. Other people like multiple photos - they need to find ways to creatively put multiple photos on each page without looking overloaded. I fall into that second category. And I just realized why - it's because I don't have any children. If you look through different galleries online, you will realize that probably 90% of the single picture layouts are of children. When I scrapbook, it is to tell a story, to relive an event. You can't do that with just one photo. Who knows - maybe once I have kids my scrapbooking style will completely change.

My sisters, sister-in-law and I had a scrapbook night about a month back, and I did complete a layout. Well, I don't have photos on it, but that is all that's missing! I am hoping to take some time either tonight or tomorrow to go through some finished layouts, decide which photos need to go on them, and get them printed. So hopefully, I will be able to scan some completed layouts by the end of the week to post. We'll see how things go!!

Scrapifieds

This is a little bit of self-promotion, but I'm really excited about a website I have envisioned and that is finally coming about. It is called Scrapifieds, and it is an online store where you can buy and sell scrapbook layouts. It is just in the beginning and I'm sure there are lots of things to change and be fixed, but we are looking for charter members so that we can get some layouts up and for sale. The fees are discounted right now, so it's a perfect time to join. Check it out here - at www.scrapifieds.com - let me know what you think!!

And, we will be starting a contest for a $50 gift certificate to scrapbook.com in the next few days!!

Another Blog??

What?? I'm creating another blog?? Don't I already have 3 others, and 2 of them, I'm not even good at posting to??

Well, yeah. I'm tempted to give up my photo a day blog, because obviously, I haven't kept that up. I need the generic blog to post about whatever I want, and let's face it - I'm addicted to food blogging. So I was thinking I need another kind of blogging to be addicted to, and so scrapbooking it is!!

I am so out of the whole scrapbooking scene. My life has been so busy that I haven't been able to do much. You would think that since I have no kids that I would have all the time in the world, but it doesn't ever quite work that way, does it!?! So I am very far behind on all of my scrapbooking, but I want to get back into things. I know that I have a lot to learn - I have been scrapbooking for a long time now, but my techniques and things are a bit dated.

So I'm here to learn, and to hopefully meet some other scrapbook bloggers. There is so much out there in the virtual world today - and I intend to take full advantage of it!!
